Rare large size centre-seconds Diver's watch with date
Heavy screw back stainless-steel case with rotating bezel, sold as "waterproof to 20 atmospheres" as engraved on the screw back, circa 1968. Cal: 60467E 17-jewel hacking movement, allowing for accurate setting of the seconds hand. Double-roller lever escapement with steel escape, the monometallic balance with beryllium balance-spring. Black dial with luminous numerals and hands, including the original seconds hands. 37.5 mm diameter, not including button or lugs.
A very good example of Smiths model CM.401 wristwatch, one of the rarest of all Smiths quality wristwatches, which should not be confused with the smaller boy's size Smiths Divers-type watch that it resembles. Case, dial and crystal with just a few minor marks, otherwise in very good condition especially the bezel which shows almost no signs of use.
